He worked on getting his breathing back under control and his mind off of Jessica’s hot body, hot mouth and hot little hands. He couldn’t believe what he’d just done. Well, what he’d almost done.

Jessica deserved better than a quickie in the midst of rolls of toilet paper, bottles of disinfectant and jars of the stuff they used to clean up puke.

Nice, Ben. Really smooth. Really classy. Really considerate.

But it was her fault. His intentions had been pure, mostly, in bringing her inside when her blouse had gone see-through.

Then he’d just wanted a quick feel and taste of the luscious breasts that had been taunting him since the morning in his bathroom. Heavy petting, necking, making out. That was all it was going to be. Honestly.

Then she’d touched him. And just like that, he was practically on his knees.

It was good the kids had come banging in.

He could do better than a storage closet. A lot better. Jessica deserved candles, rose petals, soft music, and lots of foreplay.

Hell.

Ben stopped in the doorway of the small closet where they kept the extra clothes, a vise-like tension squeezing his chest. He braced his hands on the doorjamb, digging his fingertips into the wood as he let the truth expand in his mind.

Jessica Bradford was a disciplined, dedicated, generous, amazing woman. She didn’t just deserve candles and roses. She deserved a declaration of undying love and a big ol’ diamond ring for her left hand. From a guy who was not just going to stand on the sidelines and observe her saving the world. From a guy who wanted to stand right beside her and be a hero too.

Well, so much for letting it all go and taking off his superhero cape.

He was in so much trouble.

Ben swore under his breath and pushed himself back from the support of the doorway. This was ridiculous. He hadn’t made any promises. He hadn’t said anything about this being more than a casual, just-for-fun fling. She wanted him anyway. She’d put her hands in his pants very willingly. It was her choice. She shouldn’t expect him to change all of his plans to be with her.

He yanked a hooded sweatshirt from a hanger and stalked back to the closet where Jessica waited. He should go back into that closet right now and finish this. Maybe finally be able to satisfy this crazy hunger for her. And he’d then be able to get the hell away from her before he went out and bought her that damn diamond ring. Along with a new cape.
